Chambers set schedules

· The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will host Borough Mayor John Williams at noon Tuesday at Froso's in Soldotna. For more information, call Michelle at 262-9814.

Health Day slated

The MediCenter is starting a Preventative Health Program by offering a Preventative Health Day on Wednesday at the Nikiski MediCenter at 43783 of the Kenai Spur Highway.

Free information and services includes bone density scan, blood pressure test, blood sugar test, body mass index, sleep study information and nutrition information. Wellness panel lab work discount also will be offered. The first 10 people will receive a free metabolic rate test. For more information and times, call 283-9118.

Youth cooking classes offered

Pint Size Workshop cooking classes are held at 10 a.m. Saturdays at Allen and Petersen Cooking and Appliance Center in Kenai. Admission is two cans of food or a $2 donation to the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank.

A parent must remain in the store during the 30-minute workshops.

Food manager course offered

A food manager course will be offered at 7 a.m. Sept. 1 at the Ninilchik Senior Citizens Center. The Alaska DEC required course will be taught by JAF Food Safety and Consulting (jafconsult@aol.com). The course costs $150 per student plus a portion of the instructor's travel expense. Advanced registration is required.
