With the primary election coming up Aug. 22, the state Division of Elections reminds new voters they need to be registered by Sunday if they want to vote.
Registered voters who have moved or need to change any of their information also need to make those changes by Sunday. Only party affiliation changes can be made on election day.
Voters may register at the city clerks' offices in Kenai City Hall and the Borough Building clerk's office in Soldotna from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. For those who wait until the weekend, the Kenai Community Library also has voter registration and is open on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
For voters who don't want to leave home or can't get out, registration may be accomplished by fax at (907) 465-2289, or online at the division's Web site at http://www.elections.state.ak.us. A voter registration form may be downloaded from the site. When mailing the form back, remember to have it postmarked by Sunday's date.
For more information, especially regarding assistance in registering, contact the Division of Elections in Juneau at (907) 465-4611 or TDD 465-3020.
