Post 20 shuts down Wasilla in American Legion twinbill

The American Legion Post 20 Twins took both ends of a doubleheader Wednesday at Wasilla, beating the Road Warriors 12-0 in game one and 4-0 in game two.

Danny Bookey pitched the shutout in game one while Severin Gardner earned the shutout in game two.

Bookey gave up two hits while the Twins pounded out 14 hits in game one, which was called after five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Paul John Zobeck went 2-for-3 with three RBI to lead the Twins' offense.

Gardner gave up just three hits through seven innings in game two while Willie Castillo and Mike Sauer both stroked RBI doubles in the Twins' three-run fifth inning.

The Twins will travel to Fairbanks today to begin preparations for the District II tournament which gets under way Saturday in Fairbanks.
