THORNE BAY (AP) -- The wreckage of a crashed plane and the body of its pilot were found Thursday near Thorne Bay.

Timothy Wyatt, 39, was the only person aboard the Cessna 180 that crashed in the rocks above Piggy Cove on Prince of Wales Island, according to the Alaska State Troopers.

A fishing vessel spotted the wreckage and called Thorne Bay's village public safety officer.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash.
