Twins lose at Service

The American Legion Twins dropped both games of a double-header against Service Sunday in Anchorage, losing the first game 17-14, and falling 5-2 in the seven-inning second game.

The first game could be described as heavy-hitting as the Twins posted 16 hits to the Cougars' 17, including a double from Zack Hicks and Brett Toering.

The Twins got on the score board first with three runs in the first inning. Jacob Madrid batted in Nick Weigle and Toering doubled to score Robby Rounsaville and Madrid.

But the Cougars battled back, and the contest became a back-and-fourth affair, with each team putting up runs as the game progressed.

Service's bats outlasted the Twins, however, and the Cougars pulled out a three-run win in the first game.

In the second game, anemic scoring was in order for both teams, but Service scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings to close the door on the Twins' hope of splitting the doubleheader.
