Kids' summer art workshops planned
Stephanie Cox will offer two-day art workshops for kids in August at the Kenai Fine Arts Center in Old Town Kenai. On Aug. 2 and 3, batik paper design for kindergarten through third-graders will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to noon and batik techniques and design will be offered for fourth-graders on up from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
On Aug. 4 and 5, cave art for kindergarten through third-graders will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to noon and found object sculpture and design for fourth-graders on up will be offered from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
On Aug. 9 and 10, exploring color using paints for kindergarten through third-graders will be offered from 10:30 a.m. to noon. On Aug. 11 and 12, Georgia O'Keefe painting will be offered for fourth-graders on up from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Each workshop costs $40 plus tax per child.

Homer artists' studio tour offered
The Homer Artists' Summer Studio Tour, designed to educate community members and visitors about the artistic resources of the Homer area, will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday. The tour will highlight a small group of new and private studios not generally open to the public and will include educational demonstrations, discussion with studio artists, art sales, transportation, refreshments and a catered meal with the tour artists at the end of the day. The ticket is a full-color book including artwork and statements from the participating artists. Twenty-four tickets will be sold for $75 each. Farmers' market offers arts, crafts
The area farmers' market is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through September on the Kenai Spur Highway next to Soldotna Elementary School at the bus turnaround. Fresh vegetables, herbs, plants, arts and crafts are available, and new vendors are welcome. For more information, call 262-5463.
Watercolor workshop nearly filled
There are only two spots left in the five-day workshop for beginning to advanced watercolorists taught by Ken Hosmer from Aug. 2 to 6. Resource for artists announced
The Field, a non-profit arts service organization, has launched GoTour, a Web site that helps independent artists with touring.
GoTour features a database of well known and "under the radar" U.S. and Canadian venues and cultural resources; information about arts communities from performers and administrators nationwide; as well as newspaper and radio contacts. The site is at www.gotour.org.
