Don't trash Alaska

Posted: Wednesday, July 22, 2009

As we enter into the key dipnetting times down on the Kenai, please keep in mind that many of us live here full-time and are left with the results of trashed beaches and riverbanks, trampled down dunes and sea grasses from people walking or driving their ATVs over them.

Please be sure to pick up your litter (pack out what you pack in) and be kind to our beaches and rivers. Please stay off of private lands near the mouths of the Kenai and Kasilof rivers and along our rivers. On your way home, please make sure your sewer drain on your RV or camper are closed. All too many times we see people running down the road with their drains open.

Dipnetting is our Alaska thing, let's show visitors we can tread lightly on our lands and not leave it a mess. Many of us pick up after you leave, out of necessity. Be kind to wherever you go in our great state.

Let's keep our beautiful state, beautiful. Thank you.
