Jessene Angela Kuiper of Sterling and Kjell W. Wangaard of Evergreen, Colo., were married in an afternoon ceremony Feb. 18 at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church in Louisville, Colo. Pastor Dan Hoeger officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Robert Kuiper of Sterling and Linda Brandt of Sitka.
The maid of honor was Olga Efimova. Bridesmaids were Winter and Brita West. Flower girls were Hadley Hagemann, Emily and Elizabeth Suriani and Kelsey Pepin, relatives of the bride and groom.
The groom is the son of Frederick Jr. and Carolyn Wangaard of Evergreen.
The grandfather of the groom, Frederick Wangaard Sr., was the best man. The groomsmen were Robert Kuiper, father of the groom, Forrest Kuiper and Forrest West. Alec Wangaard and Tanner, Connor and Brandt Pepin were the ring bearers.
Cami and Dane Wangaard were the ushers.
Lighting of the candles was done by Forrest West. White tulips and lilies were the flowers for the ceremony. Winter West performed a solo.
After the ceremony, the bride and groom took off in a hot-air balloon. A reception was held later at Hudson Gardens in Littleton, Colo.
The bride graduated from Skyview High School in 1994 and the University of Alaska Anchorage in 1998 with a degree in social work. She worked for the World Association for Children and Parents, an international adoption agency, in Seattle and currently volunteers for the same organization and hosts information meetings for families interested in adoption in North Carolina.
The groom graduated from Northglenn High School in Northglenn, Colo., the Alaska Pacific University with a degree in communications and the University of Pittsburgh with a master's in business administration. He is employed by SAP, a German software company.
The couple honeymooned in the French East Indies and then moved from Seattle to Greenville, N.C.
