Standefer, Johnson marry at Seldovia Bay
Shara Dianne Standefer and J. Seth Johnson were married in a 5 p.m. ceremony Saturday, July 22, in a canopy on the edge of the Seldovia Bay.
The bride is the daughter of Jimmy D. and Marilyn J. Standefer of Seldovia. She graduated from Nikiski High School in 1993 and the University of Alaska Anchorage with a degree in psychology. She is currently a graduate student in the college of education at the University of Central Oklahoma.
The groom is the son of Jon W. Johnson and the late Judith E. Johnson, formerly of Seldovia. He is a 1995 graduate of Bend High School in Bend, Ore., and is pursuing a degree in civil engineering at Oklahoma City Community College and will transfer to New Mexico State University to complete his degree.
The bride and groom are accomplished athletes, receiving All-State status and national recognition in volleyball and football, respectively, and having been involved in coaching and athletic training programs in Alaska. The bride also earned recognition for her performances as a dancer in Philip Morin's NHS dance troupe in the first years of its inception.
The couple plans to return to Alaska to make their home after completing their educations.
Van Sky, Childress to marry in October
Sheila Van Sky and David Childress have announced their plans to wed Oct. 7 in Newburgh, Ind.
The bride-to-be is a 1981 graduate of Kenai Central High School and works as a procurement specialist with American Family Insurance in Madison, Wis.
The future groom has a degree in microbiology and is a sales manager for a major chemical supplier.
The couple plans to stay in the Madison area after the wedding.
Forms for engagements and weddings are available at the Clarion's Kenai and Soldotna offices. Color or black and white pictures also may be submitted. Photos with an address written on the back will be returned.
Weddings must be submitted within six months to be printed.
