My hero is Kathi Musik of Jersey Subs. This winter I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Kathi was so concerned. When she found out that I had no insurance, she jumped into action. Giving me one of her big hugs, she said, "I'm going to organize a fund-raiser for you. I want you to take care of yourself, don't lift a finger for this. I'll take care of the event."
Thanks to Kathi's efforts, volunteers (including Blakeley's Auction Co.) and the generosity of our fine community, $7,000 was raised on April 22 at the Big T Lodge in Kasilof. This outpouring of support brightened my financial outlook.
It gave me a huge emotional boost, especially when I was in Anchorage for seven weeks undergoing radiation therapy.
It was such a comfort knowing so many people were pulling for me.
Thank you, Kathi.
