Mat-Su authorities discover two marijuana grows

ANCHORAGE(AP) -- Two separate investigations have led authorities to marijuana growing operations in Wasilla.

On July 18 Alaska State Troopers investigated a 911 call at the home a 45-year-old man and found a marijuana growing operation. The Mat-Su Drug Enforcement Team searched the residence and confiscated 74 plants along with growing equipment and supplies.

The Mat-Su drug team discovered a second commercial growing operation at a home on Holiday Drive on July 22. Authorities seized 59 plants, growing equipment, processed marijuana and two firearms. Charges against a man living at the home have been forwarded to the district attorney's office.

The drug team is comprised of members from the Wasilla Police Department, the Palmer Police Department and the Alaska State Troopers Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit.
