Nenana man shot

NENANA (AP) A Nenana man was shot Monday evening in Nenana, according to Alaska State Troopers.

Troopers said the shooting appeared to be accidental.

A friend of the family who was waiting for an Army helicopter to touch down at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital at about 8 p.m. identified the victim as recent Nenana High School graduate Josh Titus. She said he was shot by a friend who was handling a gun.

The helicopter was called out because the runway near Nenana is under construction and Titus' injuries were too severe to risk driving him to Fairbanks in an ambulance, said trooper Sgt. Dave Drvenkar.

Drvenkar said a round entered Titus' arm through the shoulder.
