Jones Road to be discussed

The State of Alaska Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting to discuss the upcoming project to improve Jones Road at 6 p.m. Monday at the State Department of Transportation at Mile 98 of the Sterling Highway, just past Skyview High School. For more information, call 262-1180.

Women's run seeks volunteers

The LeeShore Center is seeking volunteers to help with its 20th annual Kenai Peninsula Run for Women slated for Aug. 11. Flaggers need to be willing to take a short safety course at the Kenai Police Department a few days prior to the run. For more information, call 283-9479.

Club seeks cards for troops

The Peninsula Youth Ribbon club is collecting gifts, gift cards and thank-you cards to take thank-you gift baskets for returning soldiers. To donate or arrange a pick-up, call Bill and Carol Keller at 262-0492 or 394-1072.

Canner gauge testing available

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service offers free pressure canner dial gauge testing from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays at its office on Kalifornsky Beach Road in the Fish and Game building.

Weighted gauges do not need to be checked. For more information, call 262-5824.
