Morning fire destroys residence in Sterling

Posted: Tuesday, July 24, 2001

Early Monday morning, a Sterling house burned beyond saving.

Phillip Warren of 28375 Arlene St. lost his house and all its contents.

Central Emergency Services was relayed a dispatch from 911 about 1:45 a.m. from an occupant declaring his house was on fire. One engine, three tankers, one medic unit and one command unit responded to the fire.

The first unit on the scene reported the single-story structure was completely ablaze and consequently, due to unsafe conditions inside the structure, the fire was declared an exterior attack operation.

The fire was declared under control within 15 minutes of the first arriving engine, but the fire destroyed the entire structure and its contents. The estimated loss of the property is $17,000.

There were no injuries. Warren was taken in by relatives in the area.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
