Seniors' barbecue draws lots of support

The Sterling Senior Center had its annual Father's Day barbecue in June and would like to say thank you to the many who turned out to support this fund-raiser.

Special thanks go to Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor Dale Bagley doing honors on the grill along with Sterling Seniors' president Will Josey and vice president Cliff Alexander.

Team Tesoro was great, serving up the fare with a lot of class. Thanks, gang -- Tracy Manolakis, Dan Buecker, Brenda Bowling, Ann Huhndorf and Joe Hughey.

Many door prizes were the result of the efforts of our community supporter Gayle Carlyle. Door prize donors were Top Video, Blockbuster Video, B and D's Auto, Mom and Dad's Grocery, Zumwalt's, Moose River Cache, Sterling Hardware, Soldotna Animal Hospital, Alaska Canoe, Sterling Tool Rental, Kenai River Nursery, Bing Brown's, Suburban Propane, Harvest Traditions Bakery, Sadler's, Phillip's Cruises and Tours, Magpye's Pizza, Fred Meyer, Alaska Horn and Antler, Safeway, Radio Shack, Memory Lane, River City Books, Robin Place Fabric, Bead-It, Martin Mines, Sacketts, Connie's Salon, Pizza Pete's Maria Horwath, Godfather's, The Fitness Place, Carolyn Snowder, Gloria's Hair Salon, Mike's Welding and Gayle Carlyle.
