Nikiski reunion Saturday

The 10 year reunion weekend for the Nikiski High School class of 1999 will begin with a catered dinner Saturday at the North Peninsula Rec. Center at 6:30 p.m. followed by dessert and a slideshow.

Swanson River Road to see more traffic

Union Oil Company of California (Union Oil) will have increased vehicle traffic on Swanson River Road in Sterling through Sept. 30, due to multiple construction activities taking place within the company's Swanson River Field. Company vehicles will be mostly large trucks hauling heavy equipment. For more information, call 907-283-2551.

Blood donations sought

The Blood Bank of Alaska and Lions Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula are asking residents to donate blood. Register to donate through Aug. 8 and receive a free blood donor T-shirt. Call 260-5672 to schedule an appointment or for more information.

Challenger center offers camps

The Challenger Learning Center of Alaska is offering Young Astronaut day camps, hands-on, interactive science camps for youth ages 6 through 9 throughout the summer. Car seat check-ups planned

Safe Kids Kenai Peninsula/Central Peninsula Hospital will hold car seat check-ups at the following locations.

* Tuesday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Nikiski Fire Department No. 1.

* Aug. 19 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Kenai Fire Department;

* Aug. 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Central Emergency Services Soldotna Fire Department; and

Transportation to be discussed

The Kenaitze Indian Tribe will hold community Meetings to provide information and solicit input regarding transit needs for tribal members and customers and clients of tribe's programs and services who reside within the Tribe's service delivery area.

Meeting will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Aug. 4 at the tribe's Family House at 120 N. Willow St., Kenai (for the communities of Kenai, Nikiski, Salamatof, Coho and Kasilof); and from 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 4 in the conference room of Mykel's Restaurant in Soldotna at 35041 Kenai Spur Highway (for the communities of Soldotna, Sterling and Cooper Landing.)
