Progress Days parade winners announced

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce has announced the winners from the 40th annual Soldotna Progress Days Parade, which was Saturday.

The Soldotna Public Library won the grand prize overall for its float based on its Summer Safari reading program, with George the Gorilla as special guest.

Other winners were:

Youth marching group -- Soldotna High School cheerleaders, first; Okamoto's Karate, second.

Adult marching group -- the marching color guard from Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #10046, first; Kenai Peninsula College, second.

n Organizational float -- 4-H Junior Market Livestock Program, first; Soldotna Area Senior Citizens, Inc., second.

n Car entry -- Peninsula Classic Auto Club, first; R.A. Peters' and Gail Sheeks' 1929 Model A Tudor Ford, second.

n Adult entry, other -- Alaska Cozy Cabins, first; Alaska's National Teen-ager Heidi Lassen, second.

n Child, other -- "Going to the dogs," first.

n Horse, single rider -- Alaskan Jockeys, first.

n Horse, group entry -- Circle C Ranch, first; Mary Green and Rosemary Bezilla, second.
