The American Legion Post 20 Twins dropped their first game of the District II tournament Monday in Fairbanks, suffering a 4-1 loss to the Road Warriors of Wasilla in the championship round of the competition.
Because the Twins came into Monday's game without a loss in the double-elimination tournament, Post 20 will have one more shot at the District II title in a rematch with Wasilla today at noon at Arco Fields.
The Twins left 11 runners stranded on base in Monday's game, including a bases-loaded situation in the fourth inning.
Paul John Zobeck scored the only run for the Twins after reaching on a base hit in the sixth. He advanced on a single by Mike Sauer and scored on a double by Eric Newby.
Sauer also tried to score on Newby's hit but was cut down at the plate.
Aaron Hughes pitched into the seventh inning for the Twins, making way for Brad Burck in the seventh and Willie Castillo in the eighth.
