JUNEAU (AP) -- The deadline for Alaskans to register to vote or change their party affiliation in time for the Aug. 27 primary is Sunday.
The state Division of Elections will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, said spokeswoman Virginia Breeze.
Registration forms can be also be faxed to (907) 465-2289. Mailed forms must be postmarked by July 28.
This is the first year that Alaska voters will have to pick a party's primary ballot to vote in the election.
The state previously had a ''blanket primary'' in which candidates for office from various parties were included on the same ballot.
