Saturday, geologist Dick Reger will lead a walk through the last major glaciation of the Kenai Peninsula and the formation of the Kenai River Valley. Participants should meet at the Soldotna Visitor's Center at 10 a.m. and bring rubber boots and a bag lunch. Carpool arrangements will be made to tour the different lecture spots, from the visitor's center to Captain Cook State Recreation Site in Nikiski.
On Aug. 7, biologist Ted Bailey will lead a hike up a new trail on the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge while discussing his work with mammals on the Kenai Peninsula. Participants should meet at the Upper Skilak Campground at 5:30 p.m.
Programs are sponsored by the Kenai Watershed Forum and are free to the public. Participants should dress for the outdoors and are asked to RSVP to the Kenai Watershed Forum at 260-5449. Information is available on the forum's Web site at www.kenaiwatershed.org.
