An Alaska State Trooper who began his career as a Soldotna police officer has been named to head the Alaska Bureau of Investigation. The appointment is effective Aug. 1.
John Papasodora, who has been a lieutenant and the deputy commander of the bureau, was promoted to captain in addition to receiving his new post.
Papasodora began his law enforcement career as a patrol officer with the Soldotna Police Department in July 1985.
He joined the state troopers in June 1990, and upon completion of training at the State Trooper Academy, he was assigned to the trooper's "E" Detachment in Soldotna, where he served for three years.
He has served in supervisory positions with the troopers in Fairbanks and Anchorage, and became deputy commander of investigations in August 2004.
He has a bachelor's degree from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and is a graduate of the Southern Police Institutes Administrative Officers Course.
