Football officials meeting planned

The Kenai Peninsula Football Officials Association will hold general meetings at 6:30 p.m. today and Aug. 1 at Skyview High School. Anyone interested in high school and Pop Warner football officiating is encouraged to attend. For more information, call Randy at 262-7293 or Joe at 398-7533.

Bazaar fund-raiser set

The Sterling Senior Center will host its annual Christmas in July bazaar from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the center. Vendor space is still available. The cost is $25. For more information, call 262-6808 or 262-2943.

Kids invited to 'jungle adventures'

This year's theme of the Sterling Baptist Church vacation Bible school is Jungle Adventures. The school runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. from Aug. 1 to 5. Children are invited to learn more about God while singing, doing crafts, listening to Bible stories, playing games and eating snacks. Childbirth class available

The Central Peninsula General Hospital will hold a two-day refresher prepared childbirth course from 7 to 9 p.m. Aug. 9 and 16. The cost is $20 and participants must preregistered. Soldotna chamber seeks beauty

Nominations for the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce annual beautification awards are being accepted through Aug. 12. The program is a way to recognize residences and businesses for landscaping efforts in and around the Soldotna area. Safe Sitter classes slated

Central Peninsula General Hospital will hold Safe Sitter classes from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 11 and 12. Children must be 11 years old at the time of class and must preregister. The cost is $50 per student and includes all class material. For more information, call Michelle McKay at 714-4775.

Montessori presentation slated

There will be a free presentation on Montessori education at 7 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska. Tim Seldin, president of the International Montessori Foundation and author will be the featured speaker. His topic will be the importance of quality early childhood education.
