A Sterling man charged with 33 counts first-degree sexual abuse of a minor was arrested Saturday.

According to Alaska State Troopers, Keith Moyer, 51, allegedly has abused a female juvenile for the last three years.

Troopers contacted Moyer at his home in Sterling after the Alaska Bureau of Investigation received a report at 4:45 p.m. Saturday that a sexual assault had occurred in Sterling.

Troopers took Moyer into custody and served a search warrant on his home, after which he was charged with the 33 first-degree counts of sexual abuse of a minor.

Moyer has been working out of his home selling large industrial scales used to weigh trucks, known as Apex Scales, and has been living in Sterling for approximately two years.

First-degree sexual abuse of a minor is an unclassified felony and each count carries a possible penalty of up to $500,000 and up to 40 years in prison.

Moyer is being held at the Wildwood Pretrial Facility. Bail has been set at $1 million and a pre-indictment hearing has been scheduled at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 2.
