Kenai resident Ruth Anne P. Horner Ryan died Saturday, July 22, 2006, at Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna. She was 77.
Per her request, there will be no visitation or services. For those who knew her, she wished that a beer be tipped in her honor.
Mrs. Horner Ryan was born March 30, 1929, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Mary Elizabeth and George A. Parker. She retired after a career as a tax consultant in Las Vegas.
In her younger years she was active in Eastern Star and Masonic activities, and was a past Worthy Matron for the Ely, Nev. chapter of Eastern Star. She was a central figure in organizing community activities in Ely and recognized for her decorations, particularly during the Christmas season.
She was preceeded in death by her husbands, Jack Horner and Joseph Ryan.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Georgia and Alan Poynor, of Kenai; son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Michelle Horner, of Austin, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Micheal and Jamie Horner, of Las Vegas; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Julie Horner, of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Donations in her memory to any Shriner charity would be a suitable memorial.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
