The Kenai River Rotary Club will hold a garage sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the dentistry office of Dr. Jerry Hu at 125 N. Binkley Street. Funds raised will be placed in the Kenai Peninsula Foundation where a donor advised fund has been created to benefit Soldotna area elementary music programming by offering grants to build existing programs and provide opportunities for artists in residence. The Soldotna Senior Citizens Center will hold a bazaar, bake sale and quilt show will from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Saturday. A selection of crafts, baked goods, lunch menu and quilts will be available.
The center's Endowment Trust Fund barbecue will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday. Live entertainment and wool spinning exhibit are some of the planned events. For information call 262-2322.
Soldotna Public Library will hold a used book sale from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The library will be closed until the sale starts. This sale will replace the monthly sale held the last Wednesday of the month.
Local authors Naomi Gaede-Penner and Gary Hondel will be doing book signings.

Skyview football set to start
The Skyview High School football team will hold team registration from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday in the school commons. Students will need to have a current sports physical to participate. Football practice will begin Monday. For more information, call coach Jerry Bryne at 262-9974 or 398-2265.
Funny River set to celebrate
The Funny River Festival will be held Aug. 1, 2 and 3. The theme is "I Can't Bear To Be Anywhere But Funny River, Alaska" For more information and schedule of events, call Jill Tyler at 262-6148. Registration for the horseshoe tournament will be held at noon Aug. 2 at the Funny River Community Center. The cost is $10.
