As of Monday, Anchorage's Thomas Barkman continued to lead the July standings in the Homer Jackpot Halibut Derby. Barkman landed a 322.8-pound fish on July 1 and also is the overall derby leader.
The only new entrant of the week was Michael Malta of Fort Pierce, Fla., who landed a 210.4-pound fish on July 18 to move into fifth place.
Others in the top five were Dave Lorenzi of Springfield, Va., in second place with a 245.2-pound fish landed on July 13; Lucinda Lefever of Anchorage in third place with a 244.2-pound fish landed on July 14; and Kenneth Powell of George West, Texas, with a 239.6-pound fish landed on July 13.
