Wasilla man killed in Anchor Point

A Wasilla man was killed early Saturday morning while walking on the Sterling Highway near Anchor Point.

Bruce Tait, 43, reportedly was walking down the middle of the highway a little after midnight Saturday morning when he was hit by a northbound vehicle.

Troopers said Tait is believed to have been intoxicated, and the driver of the vehicle, Michael Hull, 24, of Anchor Point, was unable to avoid hitting him.

Tait died of severe head trauma before Anchor Point medics arrived at the scene.

Hull and passengers in his vehicle were wearing seat belts and not injured in the collision.

Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $7,000.

No citations were issued.
