Hospice to host bonfire

The Hospice of the Central Peninsula will host a bonfire for teenagers who have experienced the death of a family member or friend at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the the city of Kenai beach at the end of Spruce Road. Music will be provided.

Basketball camp deadline extended

The deadline for the Boys and Girls Club Gym Rats basketball camp has been extended to Wednesday. The camp will be held Aug. 2 to 4 for girls in grades three through 12.

The fee is $75, and participants must be members of the Boys and Girls Club. Molly Tuter will instruct. For more information and a complete list of playing times, call 283-2682.

WRCC board meeting slated

The Women's Resource and Crisis Center will hold its board of directors meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at 325 S. Spruce St. in Kenai. The public is invited. For more information, call 283-9479.

Soldotna landscaping contest continues

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the Beautiful Business and Yard of the Week contests. Each week through Aug. 6, the beautification committee will choose a Soldotna business and residence to highlight. The winners will display a sign proclaiming them either the Beautiful Business of the Week or Yard of the Week. In addition, winners will be announced at the weekly Soldotna chamber luncheon. Winning businesses receive $25 gift certificates from Kenai River Nursery.

Nikiski volleyball to hold tryouts
