Lifelong Alaskan and longtime Kenai resident Mae Alice Batt died Sunday, July 19, 2009, surrounded by family and loved ones at home. She was 87.
Per Mae's request no services will be held.
Mrs. Batt was born May 2, 1922, to Frank and Emma (McCoy) Wilson in False Pass.
"She enjoyed life to the fullest and loved walking the beach, fishing, clam digging and dancing," her family said. "She loved her dog, Baby. She was loved by all and was known to many as 'Mama Mae' or 'Auntie Mae.' She spent most of her life in Egekik (Bristol Bay) and lived out the last of her years in Kenai. She will be missed by all."
Mrs. Batt was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her children, Alice Roberts of California, Darlene Lind of Homer, Patty Kowolski of Eagle River, Rosemary Alto of Kenai, Frank Alto of Anchorage, Lois Smith of Soldotna, Richard Alto of Egegik, and Augie Alto of Kenai; many grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
