KETCHIKAN (AP) -- Two men face murder and robbery charges in the beating death of another man on Thursday, police said.

Terry L. Simpson Jr., 19, and Joshua A. Anderson, 20, are charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter, first-degree robbery and second-degree theft, Ketchikan Police said.

They are accused of killing Steve Perry, 35, who is also known as David Blair. Perry was found dead on a staircase at Baldwin street at about 5:09 a.m. where police said he had been assaulted. An official cause of death is pending an autopsy, police said.

Simpson and Anderson said they fought with Perry and he fell backward, striking his head on the concrete stairs, police said in a press statement issued Thursday. Police allege they also said they took money from Perry and ran.

Simpson and Anderson were arrested and were being held without bail at the Ketchikan Correctional Center Thursday afternoon, police said.
