Kenai resident Andrew Benson Reeve died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, in Anchorage. He was 42.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Kenai. Father Richard Tero will officiate. A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Peninsula Memorial Chapel. A reception will follow the Mass at the church. Burial will be in Spruce Grove Memorial Park in Kasilof.
Mr. Reeve was born Feb. 27, 1959, in Pampa, Texas. In the summer of 1968, the family moved to Kenai. He began working as a cook for Land's End in Homer and then worked as a crane operator for the cannery in Kenai. He also worked on the oil platforms and most recently as a cook for the Old Town Village Restaurant.
Mr. Reeve was a member of the Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church in Kenai. He received several safety awards for his work over the years. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, camping, hunting, being outdoors and looking at the stars.
"He was a very generous and loving man. He was always willing to help those in need. He loved his children and was a good father. He also had a great sense of humor and was always joking around," his family said.
Mr. Reeve is survived by his parents, Wayne and Virginia Reeve of North Kenai; brothers Michael Wayne Reeve of Kenai, Randy Everett Reeve of Deming, Wash., and Steven Ray Reeve of Deer Park, Texas; sister, Beth Anne Mattfield of Salem, Ore.; and his children, Sarah Christina Reeve, Shawn Andrew Reeve, Maria Kathryn Reeve and Eliska Lora Reeve.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the family for the educational fund for Mr. Reeve's children, P.O. Box 2581, Kenai, AK 99611.
