Chambers set schedules
· The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will host a gubernatorial debate at noon Tuesday at Froso’s in Soldotna. Candidates Andrew Halcrow and John Binkley have confirmed to speak at the forum. For more information, call Michelle at 262-9814.

Prior earns specialist designation
Kenai Peninsula real estate broker Tracy Prior has been awarded the prestigious Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) Designation by the Council of Residential Specialists, the largest not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors.
Realtors who receive the CRS Designation have completed advanced courses and demonstrated professional expertise in the field of residential real estate. Only 35,000 agents nationwide have earned the credential.
Prior is a broker for Alaska Premier Realty in Soldotna. She also has been awarded the Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), e-PRO and RECS designations. She is a board member for the Kenai Peninsula Association of Realtors.
Casebeer promoted at Clarion
Natalie Casebeer has been promoted to composition supervisor at the Peninsula Clarion. She will oversee day-to-day composition duties at the paper.
“We are excited to offer this opportunity to Natalie, and we are confident this will be a good fit for her and the paper,” said Stan Pitlo, Clarion publisher.
Casebeer has been employed at the Clarion for seven years, all of which have been in the composition department.
Kasilof Salmon Derby finishes Saturday
The Kasilof Eagles are sponsoring a fund-raising king salmon derby through Saturday. Daily and weekly prizes will be awarded for the largest and smallest fish, with official weigh-ins taking place from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Cohoe Cove Campground in Kasilof and daily prizes awarded at 9 nightly at the Kasilof Eagles. Grand prizes will be announced at a barbecue from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Kasilof Eagles. The entry fee is $10 a day. For more information, call 262-7623.
Home Depot plans workshops
The Home Depot in Kenai will host an event weekend on the topic of energy efficiency today through Sunday, with a workshop on energy efficient lighting upgrades at 7 p.m. today, one on energy efficient cooling systems at 10 a.m. Saturday and one on selecting and installing energy efficient doors and windows Sunday at 1 p.m. For more information on the workshops, call (800) 430-3376 or visit www.homedepot.com.
Land Trust sponsors Humpy Creek evening
The Kachemak Heritage Land Trust will host a fund-raising evening adventure night with biologist Coowe Moss Walker at 5 p.m. Aug. 5 through Humpy Creek. Participants will walk along the mud flats to the stream mouth observing seals, otters and other animals and fish for juvenile salmon for observation. Boots or waders are not provided but will be necessary. The trip costs $60 and reservations must be made by Aug. 3. To make a reservation, call (907) 235-5263.
