The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge visitor center will host the following events:
* Wildlife films — Shown daily at noon, 1, 2, 3 and 4 p.m.
At noon, 2 and 4 p.m. — "Kenai National Wildlife Refuge: Where Wildlife Comes First" (10 min.) The refuge's wildlife story and learn about its recreational opportunities.
At 1 p.m. — "Denali: The Living Eden" (55 min.) Observe the world class wildlife panorama of Denali National Park.
At 3 p.m. — "Showdown at Grizzly River" (55 min.) Journey to McNeil River to enjoy the spectacle of grizzlies competing with each other for salmon resources.
* The Environmental Education Center is open from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. weekdays through today. Experience the center's Discovery Room for ages 4 and up. Find out how to become a Junior Explorer or head out on the Keen Eye Nature Trail for the self-guided Trail Explorer Program.
* Hidden Lake programs begin at 8 p.m. at the Hidden Lake Amphitheater (in case of rain, the program moves to the picnic pavilion near the boat launch): Fridays — "Staying Alive!" Could you survive if you were injured or lost in the Alaska wilderness? Learn how to construct an emergency shelter, build a fire in the rain, and pack the perfect survival kit; and Saturdays — "Let's Talk About Relationships." Discover the relationship between lynx and its prey, the snowshoe hare. Find out about their adaptations for Alaska survival.
