Golfers rally through the rain
On June 27 more than 80 women participated in the Pink Ribbon Rally at Birch Ridge Golf Course to join the fight against breast cancer. These enthusiastic golfers played through the rain to support women on the Kenai Peninsula who cannot afford the cost of annual screenings or who will find themselves on the journey from diagnosis through treatment to recovery this year.

Kenai Golf Course won the Walker Cup on Sunday in Kenai by defeating Birch Ridge 14 1-2 to 9 1-2.

Bird Homestead Golf Report: Golfers compete at Food Bank Tournament despite showers
Bird Homestead Golf Course had an exceptional weekend, considering the weather. We hosted the fourth annual Kenai Peninsula Food Bank Tournament sponsored by Stanley Ford on July 17. There were 17 teams of all kinds of golfers. What a great turnout for such a wet day. They golfed all 18 holes in the rain and all had a great time and great attitude.

Oilers top Pilots for 7th straight win
The Peninsula Oilers completed their home schedule by defeating the Anchorage Glacier Pilots 3-0 on Sunday at Coral Seymour Memorial Park in Alaska Baseball League play.
