SEATTLE -- Edgar Martinez's two-run homer helped Seattle ended Jarrod Washburn's 12-game winning streak and the Mariners moved back into the lead in the AL West with a 3-1 victory on Saturday.
Joel Pineiro (11-4) outpitched Washburn (12-3), who hadn't lost in 17 starts since April 13. The Mariners had lost five straight to the Angels, who took over the division lead by two percentage points with a victory Friday.
Washburn had the longest winning streak in the majors this season and was two shy of Chuck Finley's club-record 14-game winning streak set in 1997-98.
Pineiro allowed one run and nine hits in 6 1-3 innings. Kazuhiro Sasaki pitched the ninth for his 26th save.
Red Sox 4, Orioles 0
BOSTON -- John Burkett pitched a four-hitter for his first complete game of the season, lifting Boston past Baltimore.
Lou Merloni hit a solo homer and Trot Nixon went 2-for-3 with a triple and a double as Boston won for just the third time in eight games.
Burkett (10-3), who is 10-0 against AL teams this year, matched his season high with seven strikeouts and didn't walk a batter in his sixth career shutout.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Jared Sandberg hit a two-run homer as Tampa Bay beat New York for just the second time in 11 tries this season.
Travis Harper (4-6) allowed four runs and six hits over 6 2-3 innings in his fourth start of the season and first since May 25. Toby Hall and Carl Crawford added RBI triples.
Yankees starter Jeff Weaver (7-9) struggled for the fourth straight outing since being acquired from Detroit in a three-team trade July 5. He allowed six runs and nine hits in seven innings.
Esteban Yan worked two perfect innings for his 14th save in 17 opportunities.
New York's AL East lead over Boston dropped to four games.
Rangers 10, Athletics 6
ARLINGTON, Texas -- Alex Rodriguez hit a grand slam in the 10th inning -- his second homer of the game on his 27th birthday -- as Texas rallied to beat Oakland.
Rodriguez also homered in the first inning and leads the majors with 34 this season. Carl Everett hit a three-run shot, his third homer in four at-bats, as the Rangers came back from an early four-run deficit.
Rodriguez went deep off Billy Koch (6-2) for his ninth career slam. He has five multihomer games this season and 24 in his career.
Jermaine Dye hit a three-run homer for the A's, who lost their fourth straight to match a season high.
Twins 5, Blue Jays 4
MINNEAPOLIS -- Corey Koskie's one-out double in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted Minnesota over Toronto for its ninth victory in 10 games.
Pinch-hitter Bobby Kielty started the winning rally with a single off Kelvim Escobar (5-5) and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Jacque Jones. After an intentional walk to Cristian Guzman, Koskie lined a 2-0 pitch into the gap in right-center to score Kielty.
Tigers 5, Indians 1
CLEVELAND -- Steve Sparks won for just the second time since May 29 and Damion Easley hit a three-run homer as Detroit beat Cleveland for its fifth straight win.
Sparks (5-10) allowed one run and seven hits in eight innings, improving to 5-0 in seven starts the past two seasons against Cleveland. It was his longest outing in 13 starts.
Easley hit a three-run homer in the third inning off C.C. Sabathia (6-9) and Hiram Bocachica added a solo shot -- his first AL homer -- in the fifth for the Tigers.
The Indians have dropped nine of 11. Sabathia allowed four runs and nine hits in five-plus innings and fell to 1-5 in his last nine starts.
White Sox 9, Royals 1
CHICAGO -- Magglio Ordonez homered twice and Aaron Rowand added a two-run shot as Chicago defeated Kansas City.
Tony Graffanino also homered for the White Sox, who have outscored the Royals 19-3 in the opening two games of the series.
Gary Glover (4-5) gave up one run and five hits in seven innings to win for the first time since June 27.
Kansas City has lost five in a row and six of seven since a nine-game winning streak. The Royals have also dropped 22 of 27 on the road.
Darrell May (2-7) took the loss.
