The Anchorage Glacier Pilots snapped the Peninsula Oilers' seven-game winning streak with a 3-2 win in extra innings in the first game of a doubleheader on Tuesday at Mulcahy Stadium. It was the Pilots first win over the Oilers this season. The second game was still in progress when the Clarion went to press. With the loss, the Oilers fell to 28-13 in the Alaska Baseball League.

The first-place Alaska Goldpanners of Fairbanks went 1-1 in a doubleheader with the Anchorage Bucs on Tuesday. The Panners, who dropped the first game 6-0 and won the second game 8-0, are now 29-11.

A hit batter, base on balls and an error loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the ninth for the Pilots. Trevor Hairgrove then recorded a walk-off single off of reliever Josh Corrales to give Anchorage the win in a game scheduled for seven innings. Corrales was credited with the loss.

The Oilers had runners on second and third in the top of the ninth, but left both stranded when Tyler Grimes and Ryan Gebhart both struck out to end the inning.

Trailing 2-1 with two outs in the top of the seventh, Grimes ripped an RBI single to score Patrick Wisdom and tie the game at 2. The Pilots then threatened to score with a two-out rally of their own. After back-to-back singles, reliever Chad Smith got Trent Garrison to strike out to force extra innings.

The Oilers broke five scoreless innings with a run in the top of the sixth. With two outs, Peninsula strung together three consecutive base hits. Stephen Piscotty started the rally with his second hit of the game. Ryan Hege then advanced Piscotty to third base with a single. Garrett Wittels brought Piscotty home with an RBI single for the game's first run.

The Pilots then recorded four straight, two-out singles to take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the sixth. After striking out the first two Pilots, Oilers starter Kellen Moen gave up back-to-back singles. Oilers head coach Dennis Machado then went to the bullpen for reliever Taylor Garrison to face O'Koyea Dickson. He singled to score Hairgrove and tie the game at 1. Clay Cederquist then singled to score Trent Garrison. Cullen Mahoney drew a walk to load the bases. Taylor got Ernesto Ortiz to fly out and strand three base runners.

Moen yielded three hits and two runs through 5 2-3 innings of work on 74 pitches. Winning pitcher Justin Kemp went 2 2-3 innings, giving up three hits, one walk and striking out four.
