Chugiak, South advance at American Legion state baseball tournament

Chugiak defeated West 11-10 in 10 innings on Tuesday at the American Legion state baseball tournament at Anchorage's Mulcahy Stadium. South beat Service 8-6. West and Service were both eliminated from the tournament.

The sixth-seeded American Legion Twins take on second-seeded Dimond today at 10 a.m. The loser will face Chugiak at 4 p.m. today. Top-seeded Fairbanks plays fourth-seeded Wasilla at 1 p.m. The loser will face South at 7 p.m. tonight.

Kenai Central volleyball meeting slated

A Kenai Central parents and players volleyball meeting is scheduled for Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. at Kenai Central High School. Tryouts begin Aug. 9 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at KCHS. For more information, contact John Kennedy at 252-9596 or e-mail to jkennedy@kpbsd.k12.ak.us.
