Norm Story will be missed at helm of Homer Electric

Posted: Tuesday, July 29, 2003

In 1991, I attended a general manager's conference sponsored by the Rural Electrification Administration (REA) in Washington, D. C., where I met my first Alaskans. Their names were Norm and Lynn Story. Norm was employed as the manager for Homer Electric Association (HEA). My wife and I delighted at their stories about Alaska.

I lost track of Norm until I moved to Alaska in 1994 and took the position of general manager for Matanuska Electric Association. Since then, I've had the pleasure of working with Norm on various joint projects and Railbelt issues. I was saddened by his recent decision to retire.

Of the managers I've known since becoming part of the rural electric program in Alaska, Norm has distinguished himself by his dedication to protecting the interests of his member-owners.

I would like to join with the folks on the Kenai Peninsula in saying we will miss Norm at the helm of HEA.
