Volunteers, board members make reading program success

Posted: Thursday, July 29, 2004

We'd like to thank the local businesses and individuals who helped make the Soldotna Public Library's summer reading program a great success.

Thank you to Jeff King of Kings Budget Charters, for his generous donation of a Kenai River fishing trip, the grand prize in our reading program; Billi Kaho, for her donation of prizes; Peggy Mullins of River City Books, for the donation of book bucks; and Fred Meyer.

We'd also like to thank Nicole Osmar, 2004 Junior Iditarod champion, for her dog demonstration; Michelle and friends from the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge, for teaching us how to "Leave No Trace" on our trails; Judy Schmidt and Sara Hondel, volunteers who helped on registration day; and library board member Dick Hahn, the grill master.

Many thanks to the volunteers who helped to organize and run the Soldotna Progress Days used book sale: Yvonne Dyson, Lottie Bogard, Norma Cooper, Katie Troeger, Dick Hahn, Dorothy Bishop, Ann Montgomery, Robin Veluce, Pat Gilbreath and Joan Crowepps. We'd also like to thank library board member Robin Eberline for designing and organizing the library float in the Soldotna Progress Days Parade. It looked fantastic.

Margaret Brewster

Library director
