Rummage sale fund-raiser planned

Sterling Head Start will hold a rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at the center.

It is also accepting applications for the 2005 school year. It is open Tuesday through Friday and offers two classes: a morning class from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and an afternoon class from 12:30 to 4 p.m.. Children ages 3 to 5 are eligible. Children must be 3 by Sept. 1. There is no fee. For more information, call Debbie Weber at 260-7446.

MDA 'Live Ride' slated

The sixth annual MDA Harley-Davidson Live Ride for the Muscular Dystrophy Association will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday in Anchorage and end at noon at the Kenai Peninsula House of Harley-Davidson in Soldotna.

Live music, food, bike games and door prizes are planned at the conclusion of the ride. All proceeds will help fund MDA programs and services in Alaska.

KCHS cross country to begin

The Kenai Central High School cross country running team will begin practice at 6 p.m. Monday in the commons. All runners and parents are asked to attend a brief meeting and bring a completed physical exam form.

Runners are asked to bring running attire as practice will follow the meeting. For more information, call Liz Burck at 262-7446.

WRCC to host annual run

The Women's Resource and Crisis Center will hold its 17th annual Kenai Peninsula 5- and 10-kilometer Run For Women at 10 a.m. Aug. 14 in Kenai.

Registration deadlines are Aug. 6 for mail in, Aug. 13 for in-person, and the day of race at 9 a.m. The cost is $15 or $20 on the day of race.

Preregistered racers can pick up their bib, T-shirts and promotional items from 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 13 at the lower level of the Seaman Building entrance at 601 Frontage Road in Kenai.

The WRCC currently is seeking volunteers to help with water tables and directing traffic for the race. For more information or to volunteer, call 283-9479.
