Reader responds to Medicare story

Posted: Friday, July 29, 2005

I am writing in regards to the article about Medicare providers (Clarion, July 22). I am one person who uses oxygen concentrator provided by Geneva Woods, also a Cpap which Geneva Woods supplies and my masks, which last a year. Never have I had a problem getting a mask.

If Medicare pays for Mr. Clark's machine, he will be responsible for all repairs, tubing and cleaning filters.

Mr. Drake was right here when my machine quit on me. I've been dealing with Geneva Woods for three or four years and have never been lied to by anyone in their office. I understand what Mr. Clark means about costs, but we cannot fix everything or change the rules.

You need oxygen, Mr. Clark. Go with the flow and get what you need.

Thank God there are places like Geneva Woods, Paul Drake, his staff (who care about people) and also Medicare and Medicaid. If we didn't have these services, I probably wouldn't be here.

Geneva Woods has a wonderful staff. Paul will help anyone. I hope he is still around to send me on my way when the time comes.
