Sterling resident Nancy Fena died Sunday, July 24, 2005, in Tempe, Ariz. She was 66.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at First Lutheran Church in Hibbing, Minn. The Rev. John Dietz will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday in the church for one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing.
Mrs. Fena was born Aug. 20, 1938, to Omer and Lillian (Sunberg) Ording in Hibbing. She was raised in Mahoning Location and attended Hibbing schools. She married James Fena in April 1955 at the First Lutheran Church Parsonage. They were married more than 50 years.
They lived in many places during Mr. Fena's 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, including Japan, San Antonio and Anchorage. Mrs. Fena worked for a time as a reservation agent with Wein Air Alaska.
“She spent summers in Sterling, where she enjoyed every aspect of salmon fishing, from catching to smoking and canning. She and Jim enjoyed traveling the country by car, visiting family and their many friends from the military. She and Jim spent winters in Florence, Ariz., enjoying the desert wildlife, scenery and many friends and visitors,” her family said.
Mrs. Fena was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Jim, of Sterling; daughters, Debra (Rick) Kremer of Ramona, Calif., and Lori (Edward Zyszkowski) Fena of Southfield, Mass.; brother, Ronald J. (Peggy) Ording of Wilkesboro, N.C.; and grandchildren, Jennifer and Gwen Kremer and Lilianna and Aleksander Zyszkowski.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Dougherty Funeral Home in Hibbing.
