Missions fund-raiser today

The Nikiski New Hope Christian Fellowship will hold a garage sale fund-raiser from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Saturday at the church on the corner of Holt Lamplight and Milkway. Cars, furniture and many other items are for sale. Hot dogs, pop, chips and cookies will be available. For more information, call Judith Dixon at 776-8481.

Finance Seminar slated

The Kenai Church of God will host a free personal finance seminar from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday.

Ken Davis of Tennessee will speak on various subjects to help Christians live a more financially successful life. Davis is the director of stewardship ministries at the Church of God International headquarters. Child care will not be provided. Space is limited. Participants must preregister (no drop-ins) by calling 283-4009.

Church dedication set

The Funny River Bible Church will hold a new building dedication at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church on the corner of Brown's Lake Road and Goodyear Street. It is open to the public.

Kids invited to ‘jungle adventures'

This year's theme of the Sterling Baptist Church vacation Bible school is Jungle Adventures. The school runs from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Aug. 5.

Children are invited to learn more about God while singing, doing crafts, listening to Bible stories, playing games and eating snacks.

Bible study group to meet

Nikiski Aglow meets at 9:30 a.m. Wednesdays at New Hope Fellowship at Mile 23 of the Kenai Spur Highway. It is open to area women.

Family nights set

The Soldotna Church of God will host family nights from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays throughout the summer at the church at 105 W. Redoubt. Stories, games and crafts are some of the planned activities.

Dinner is at 6 p.m. The cost of dinner is $2 per person or $7 per family. For more information, call 262-4729.

Clothes Quarters open

Clothes Quarters, in the back of Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church parking lot at 225 Spruce St. in Kenai, will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Clothes 2 Go is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays in the basement of the Nikiski Inlet Faith Church on the corner of McGahan and Marie. Items cost 25 cents and up.

Bible truths seminar slated

The Lighthouse Independent Baptist Church will host a basic Bible truths seminar at 7 p.m. Aug. 8 through 11 at the church at Mile 2.7 Oilwell Road. The topics will be, looking at the world through the eyes of God, what God has done for the world and how to appropriate what God has done for you. Refreshments will be served following services. It is open to the public.

Jewish services available

Briat Elohim-The Jewish Congregation of the Kenai Peninsula, a non-profit Jewish group affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism meets Friday evenings and Saturday mornings. It holds annual events such as Hanukkah parties, Passover Seder and Rosh Hashana service.

The congregation hosts visiting rabbis, guest speakers and hold educational fund-raisers. It is open to all Jews.
