Jean and Hal Fimpel celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary with friends and family at the Eureka Lodge July 13.
The couple met via mail, through a mutual friend, while Hal was aboard a destroyer during the Korean conflict. They were later married and moved to San Diego.
They moved to Alaska in 1974 and owned and operated the Eureka Lodge for 10 years.
Presently, Hal is the food manager for Wildwood. Jean retired from Lamonts to care for their grandchildren.
They have a son, Jim, who now owns the Eureka Lodge and a daughter, Jan Fenton, who is a registered nurse at Central Peninsula General Hospital. Their grandchildren are Johana and Ryan Fimpel and Molly and Tyler Fenton of Soldotna.
