Contributions spruce up Bridges' building with new carpeting

Bridges Community Resource Center Inc. has new carpeting which tremendously improves the appearance and safety of our building, thanks to Dolly Farnsworth, the members of the Soldotna High School Football Team, and J-B Lock 'N Store. Our grateful thanks to all of them for their contributions.

Special thanks to Ben Breakfield, Brennan Best, Spencer Tachik and Nic Warton, the football team members who moved all of our furniture out and then back in, and hooked our computers back up (correctly this time). Their cheerfulness, hard work and especially computer expertise made the job much easier!

Thanks also to Sarge Truesdell for "renting" us the team. If you have a similar job that needs doing, call him at 262-1232. We are thrilled with their help and think you will be too.

Red Cross scores hole in one with successful tournament

The American Red Cross thunders thankful applause after its successful golf tourney!

I would like to shout a grateful thanks and appreciation to our Honorary Tournament Chairmen Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor Dale Bagley, Kenai City Mayor John J. Williams, Soldotna City Mayor Dave Carey, and Red Cross Director Gary Davis, as well as to the many businesses, companies and individuals that participated in the 11th Annual American Red Cross Golf Tournament.

Scores of local businesses contributed food, prizes or purchased hole sponsorships. As a result of the nearly $15,000 produced, residents can expect the local Red Cross to provide disaster preparedness education and prompt relief to victims of disaster on the Kenai Peninsula. Thank you!

One cheer more to Birch Ridge Golf Course, (Pat and Myrna Cowan) and our hard-working tourney committee members including Tournament Coordinator Vonnie Hanlin, Grace Merkes, Jack Brown, Gary Davis, Suzie Kendrick, McKibben Jackinsky, Gary Dawkins, Marty Radvansky and Carrol Martin.

There are many others who also led to our excellent success. Of paramount importance were the 72 golfers who golfed for the fun and to win in support of the American Red Cross. Thank you!
