Skyview pool reopens, swim practice begins
The Skyview High School pool will reopen Monday. For an up-to-date schedule, call 262-3905. The Skyview Panthers swim team will hold its first practice from 3 to 5 p.m. Aug. 9 at the school.
Flag football slated
North Peninsula Recreation Service Area is taking registration for its flag football program for boys and girls in grades four through eight. Registration will be held at the Nikiski pool from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Aug. 18. The cost is $25 per participant and is due at time of registration. The season will run from the end of August through September. Nikiski teams will compete with the Boys and Girls Club of Kenai. For more information, call Rachel at 776-8800.
KCHS swimming, diving set to begin
The Kenai Central High School swimming and diving teams will begin practicing at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 10. Participants will need to have a current and completed sports physical. For more information, call 283-7476.
Youth theater group to perform
The Kenai Performers Summer Theatre camp will perform "The Wind in the Willows" at 7 p.m. Aug. 12, 13 and 14 at the Old Town Playhouse in Kenai. Music and new lyrics are by Douglas Post, and Carol Ford will direct. The cost is $8 for general admission and $6 for students and senior citizens. Donor appreciation day scheduled
The Blood Bank of Alaska will host a donor appreciation barbecue from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Kenai Peninsula College. Community members are encouraged to attend and meet new staff members.
Vision workshop set
The Independent Living Center is sponsoring a hands-on workshop for individuals with significant vision impairment, their family members and caregivers. There is no cost. Lunch is available for $8 per person or a suggested donation of $4 for those 60 and over. For reservations and more information, call 262-6333.
