Kasilof resident Robert S. Okamoto died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at the Mayo Clinic, Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn., after a short battle with leukemia and with his family by his side. He was 70.
His family will have a ceremony Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, to spread his ashes on the Kenai River. A military honor guard and gun salute will be part of the ceremony, which will be followed by a celebration of life at the American Legion. Attendees are asked to RSVP to 262-1995 for the boat brigade that gets under way at 5:30 p.m. from Kenai Riverbend Campground.
