Green is the Color of Life

Posted: Thursday, July 30, 2009

I'm just a poor person, like many of you ...

Scrimping, and saving, just to make do.

But I see the writing, on Mother Earth's walls ...

Diseases she carries, because of us all.

Water, the life-blood of all living things,

Must have the power that purity brings.

But so much pollution,it carries,instead ...

And in it's flow ... leaves the dying ... and dead.

Cutting down trees, and planting a crop ...

Laying cement, and setting up shop.

Hi-ways, and high-rise, is all we can see ...

The "New-Kids" won't ever know what used to be.

What wonderful creatures once shared our fine Earth ...

We killed many off ... what was their worth?

A factory for plastic, or big motor cars ...

The few that are left are enclosed behind bars.

And the people in power, who decide, everyday,

That things will be done, and in such a way ...

They can just live, as long as they can ...

And they're DEAD! Why care what happens to Man?

But all our children will inherit this world ...

Under whatever flag is flown ... or unfurled.

Will we leave them with hope, and a future, with pride?

Or leave them a world, they cannot survive?
