A primary suspect in the July 16 shooting of Brandon McGee has been apprehended at the Backtracker Trailer Park near Sterling.
State Trooper spokesperson Beth Ipsen said that the Southern Special Emergency Reaction Team on Friday afternoon surrounded a trailer in the park at Mile 87 of the Sterling Highway. The suspect surrendered himself after a brief period of negotiations. The majority of the 20 officers on the scene were troopers, Ispen said.
The suspect in the homicide hadn't been formally charged and troopers didn't release his name. The Alaska Bureau of Investigations was interviewing the suspect at the time of the news release.
