Woman killed in Fairbanks fire identified

FAIRBANKS (AP) -- Fire officials have released the name of a Fairbanks woman killed Monday in an early morning house fire.
Mary Gregory, 61, was in a basement apartment when the fire broke out. Investigators said there were no smoke detectors in the basement.
A man living upstairs in the house tried to reach Gregory, but was turned back by smoke and heat at the basement steps.
